Frank is predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Rosemary Griffin Miller and son Michael James. His memory will be honored by his son Skip and wife Kitty, daughter Rosemary Knab and husband John, daughter Roseanne Rugg and husband Jim and daughter-in-law Debbie Miller. Frank left an indelible impact on his grandchildren: Patrick Miller and his wife Candice Baratta Miller; Julia Miller, John Knab and his wife Meghan Grant Knab; Jude Miller and his wife Laurel Gough-Miller; Rebecca Knab-McMicken and husband Brian; Serena Miller DePhillis and husband Mike; Mary Rugg; Andrew Miller; and Alicia Miller. His seven young great grandchildren (Emma, Jed, Elijah, Giovanna, Nora, Sean and Luke) were the light of his life. He was also blessed with dozens of nieces and nephews who referred to him as their “favorite”, many of whom stayed in touch with him until his death.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Frank lived on Wishart Street and attended Saint Hugh Elementary School where he met his first love and soul-mate Rosemary Theresa Griffin. He attended Dobbins Vocational School until enlisting in the U.S. Navy at 17 years old during World War II.

Frank had fond memories of his time in the Navy. He was sent to the Wentworth Institute in Boston where he was trained to work in the engine room and boiler room on his ship.
Frank always referred to himself as “The Tin Can Sailor” – a term used to describe sailors assigned to navy destroyers. He was assigned to the USS Jarvis DD 799 and served in the North Pacific fleet task force 92 as a third class petty officer. He had 8 engagements with the enemy. After Japan’s surrender, he was part of the occupation forces that entered Japan to destroy their military supplies.

Upon returning from the war, he worked for the Atlantic Refining Company (ARCO) for 39 years, first as a service mechanic and later as service supervisor.
Frank and Rosemary were married on May 3, 1947. They moved to Cherry Hill, NJ with their 4 children in 1955. He was an active member of St. Peter Celestine Catholic Church (now Christ Our Light Church) servicing as vice-president of the Holy Name Society and a long-time usher for Sunday Mass. He was also cub master for the local chapter of the boy scouts.

Upon retirement, he was an active volunteer for the Ocean City Pops Orchestra.
Frank attended Temple College taking courses in heating, ventilation and air conditioning. He later graduated from Camden Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society. 1851 Old Cuthbert Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
