Obituary for Arnold "Buck" Bucciarelli DDS

Dr. Arnold Bucciarelli DDS of Cherry Hill NJ died suddenly while vacationing in Bali, Indonesia. He was 76 years old. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol Bucciarelli (nee Hyatt) of Cherry Hill,NJ. His daughter Dr. Donna Bucciarelli DVM of Ringwood,NJ and Michael Bucciarelli of Cherry Hill.

Arnold was born in Philadelphia in 1942. His mother Lydia Bucciarelli worked at Strawbridge and Clothier and his father Armand worked at the Philadelphia Navy Yard in the procurement department. Armand was also an Iwo Jima Veteran and a Japanese MIA POW. Upon returning to Cherry Hill, Armand built a home in the Erlton section of Cherry Hill NJ, a process that Arnold assisted with and which occurred over a period of about 6 years. As a teenager Arnold attended the first graduating class of Cherry Hill West (originally Delaware Township High School). Arnold made extra money during these years washing neighbors’ cars, an activity he enjoyed immensely.

After High School, Arnold joined the US Air Force. He spent time stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida, where he worked as a mechanic specializing on the F-106 Delta Dart. While stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base Arnold met his future wife Carol Ann McClosky. Arnold later moved back north and completed his dental studies at Temple University. Prior to completing these studies Arnold worked as an electrician at the Presswell Record Plant in Hammonton. In 1974 Arnold settled at his permanent home in Cherry Hill, and started attending services at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church. Though raised Catholic, Arnold enjoyed the social aspect of the congregation’s social coffee hour. This enjoyment continued into later life.

Arnold initially practiced Dentistry in Germantown Philadelphia, eventually opening a home office in Cherry Hill. Later Arnold worked as a part time dentist at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital. Arnold enjoyed the craft of dentistry and giving people great smiles. Arnold himself always offered strangers a friendly smile, and warm handshake. Arnold was very social and worked to make as many new friends as possible. He worked in leadership positions at UNICO, Jaycees and as a Federation Chief for Indian Guides. One of his favorite past times was sailing on the Delaware River.

In 2015 Arnold beat Lung Cancer, and had a renewed vigor to try new experiences and make a difference in people’s lives. He constantly made sure to visit and attend to friends with health problems. He started volunteering his medical services to the Cathedral Kitchen in Camden. He adopted the mantra that “everyday is a gift”.

Visitation Thursday March 14, 2019 from 9 to 10:45am in Saint Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, 1989 East Marlton Pike Cherry Hill, NJ 08003. Funeral service Thursday 11am. Interment private.
